Hostage Situation Perry Hill Road, West Midlands: Police negotiators on scene trying to solve 'ongoing' hostage situation as talks enter second day

Hostage negotiators are continuing in their attempts to free an elderly woman being held captive in her own home by a knife-wielding man today.

Officers were called to Perry Hill Road in Sandwell, West Midlands, shortly after 7am yesterday, after concerns for the 79-year-old pensioner’s welfare were raised.

Police were still at the scene this morning staging desperate talks to free the old age pensio

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said a 40-year-old man was inside the property armed with a knife, adding that the incident is believed to be domestic-related.

Armed officers and specially trained negotiators remain at the scene today, and a number of roads surrounding the address are cordoned off.

Roads surrounding the besieged property in the town of Oldbury were closed and access was severely restricted. Read More
